Glad you are here, it is ok to jump in anywhere you want to post, This format lends itself to just making your thoughts and questions flow. In my case one thought leads to another with I am posting.
Also you can upload pictures, charts etc into a post or copy and paste.
Your story is an interesting one.
I looked back at my DNA Fingerprint and Realized that Michigan Native American is #2 on my top 20, with Portugal being my #1.
My Ancestry DNA 2.5 though showed me with less than possible 5 percent NA and mostly North European. Could have something to do with how they come to their conclusions . In Fact the way it stated was that there wasn't any but the unknown 5 Percent is something right?
Could be this occurred since my Fathers line is said to be Cherokee (and probably that tribe since the lineage Ican get to SC abt Rev War or 1790.
This line also has a 4g Grandmother with Green. In some comments I have seen on DNA 2.5 there could be as much as a 20 percent margin of error that is high in their conclusions. needs more refining in the tests as I understand it. but interesting to get all the same. My mothers mothers said to have some NA cherokee and Choctaw, prob.
the tribes as they were in Alabama a few generations. My Mtdna has come back on the complete tests as H, it has shown in some Cherokee. (My Grandmothers families (maternal) has a number of families that came from Early Land grants in the Chowan Precinct of NC the Roanoke River Lost Colony maybe?? Bonner was one of the surnames there. and Carney with Choctaw, My Scot Irish folks are from Border, NC/Sc Cape Fear Scots. The Adams are from Camden SC area of Juan Pardo Expeditions
as well as J2 like in my Fathers Y. My particular mutations though in my Mtdna still indicate the Canary Islands. The deeper aspect of it. H has a lot of variables I have noticed
in folks. my H only has 2 exact matches in mitosearch (a database of mtdna) www.mitosearch.org.See also a post I made on H I am going to add some links of Interest.

My Papertrail has me with a lot of Scot, Irish, English, and a few lines of French Hugenot.
The Scot Irish didn't mind intermarrying with the Indians as much as the English. nor did the French. The Scots were heavily involved in trade with the Indians in the South East.
